The Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee will hold a public hearing on variable electric rates at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1 in Room 8EB of the State Capitol’s East Wing.
Senator Tommy Tomlinson (R-Bucks) who chairs the committee, said the hearing will address the issue of skyrocketing electric bills that were caused by variable rates during the unusually harsh winter.
Many consumers saw their electric bills double and triple and were unable to pay their bills.
Among those scheduled to testify are PUC Chairman Rob Powelson, consumer and small business advocates and representatives of the utility industry.
The hearing will be streamed live at www.pasenategop.com
